Week in Review

I did not do a very good job at getting my runs in this week.  Monday and Tuesday were really busy at work.  Wednesday I headed to Indiana for a trip with my dad.  On Thursday I ran 4K in 40mins on the treadmill at the Best Western in Lapeer Michigan.  It was a slow run, as my legs were not happy to have been off them for 3 days.
On Saturday I ran 5.29K in 42mins.  On Sunday I ran 13.79K in 1hour and 53mins with the running group.  It is officially one week until our goal race of the Springbank 1/2 Marathon.

Work was super busy this week, so I did not get out for a run until Thursday night.  On Thursday I ran 8K in 1hour and 6mins with the running group.  On Saturday I ran 5.35K in 41mins.
Sunday was the Port Stanley Run!  I ran 21.52K in 2hours and 47mins with the running group.  I am pretty happy with this time as it was really hot!

5.37K and 6.02K in Ottawa

On Saturday July 28th I ran 5.37K in 40mins along the Ottawa River.   On Sunday July 29th I ran 6.02K in 49mins.  This run took me along the Ottawa River and over to Quebec.  Here are some pictures from this run!
Chateau Laurier

Rideau Canal

Museum of Civilization across the river in Quebec

The "Iceberg" is the National Gallery of Canada

The back of the Parliament building

View of Ottawa from the bridge leading to Quebec

These are the only two runs I got in this week as I was sick with a head cold and travelled to Ottawa for my friend's wedding.  Due to me being soo sick I was not up to documenting our trip as well as I would have liked.

Crest Pro-Health Product Review

Crest Pro-Health Product Review
Crest Pro-Health
Week 1 Review
I have been using the Crest Pro-Health PROFRESH Toothpaste, Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush and Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Rinse for around 1 week now.  I have to say that overall I am enjoying using the Crest Pro-Health products sent to me for the BzzCampaign.  Even thought I do not typically like strong flavoured toothpaste, I do enjoy the freshness of the PROFRESH formula.  I usually use the Crest Pro-Health Gum Protection variety of toothpaste.  I am also enjoying using the Pro-Health Rinse and find it not too strong.  I do find that the Oral-B toothbrush is too large for my mouth and am unsure how I feel about the "non-bristle" pieces on the brush.
Disclosure:  As a BzzAgent, I received a free product sample of  Crest Pro-Health PROFRESH Toothpaste, Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush and Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Rinse in exchange for my review of the products and my opinion.

Going Long Book Review

Going Long: Legends, Oddballs, Comebacks & Adventures

Going Long is a collection of the best Stores from Runners World.  Overall I enjoyed the book.  There were a few articles that I had felt I already knew the store, i.e. an article on the Hoyts and Matt Long.  There were a few that I found a little dry and did skip, but as I said, over all a good read.  I downloaded it on my Kobo as I could not find the book in the library or Chapters.

5.29K and 16.11K Runs

On Saturday July 20th I ran 2.29K in 42mins.  On Sunday July 21st I ran 16.11K in 2hours and 12mins with the running group.  I had to bump up my 16K run a week as we were travelling to Ottawa the following weekend.

Barking Frog Summer Night 5K Recap!

On Friday July 19th I ran the Barking Frog Summer Night 5K for the third time!  It was still pretty hot, but I was able to shave 9seconds off my time for a time of 36:22.  It is a hilly course on the way back, so you really need to save your energy for the second half.

4.82K Run

Last Thursday, July 18th I ran 4.82K in 36mins with the running group.  I did not run at all during the week as it was way too hot!  We ran the route of the Barking Frog 5K as a practice for the upcoming race.  This was the route we took:
To start the run we are heading North on the Bike path to the race turnaround point (350 meters before we leave the bike path ) --- then we turnaround and head south on the bike path
----- leave the bike path up to Ann St, south on Talbot, East on John St to Finish line by Barking Frog. We will wait for a minute , gather up and return same way back to Gibbons.

I almost forgot! My skirts came this day for the Glass Slipper Challenge from Team Sparkle!
Love them!  I am going to wear the pink one for the Enchanted 10K and the blue one for the Princess Half Marathon!  Now I just need to find a blue tshirt to match!

Week in Review

On Monday I made it to the gym during my lunch hour.  Since I went during lunch, I didn't go after work.
I wasn't feeling the greatest on Tuesday, so I decided to skip my run.  On Wednesday I ran 6.7K in 50mins.
On Thursday I ran 8.67K in 1hour and 6mins with the running group.  On Saturday I ran 5.29K in 42mins.  I got up late so it was a pretty warm run when I finally got out at noon.
On Sunday I ran 13.82K in 1hour and 50mins running group.  After the run was complete I was very happy that John makes us get up for a 7am run in the heat of summer.  The next week is calling for 30 degree Celsius all week, but feeling like 40.  Hopefully it cools down by Friday Night in time for the Barking Frog Summer Night 5K.
Here is my schedule for this upcoming week:
Monday: Cross Train
Tuesday: 7K Run
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: 5K Run
Friday: Barking Frog Summer Night 5K
Saturday: 5K Run
Sunday: 16K Run

Week in Review!

On Monday, Canada Day, I went to the gym and worked on my arms.  We went to see fire works at the Forks that night.
On Tuesday I ran 6.54K in 52mins.  On Wednesday I was not feeling the greatest so I decided to skip my run.
On Thursday we completed a different work out then usual with the running group.
This is the famous elastic band run where I put you with a partner ---- you run in opposite directions of a circle and meet half way
Directions
No watches or GPS
...
Run at whatever speed you want, but be consistent with your pace
Once you tag your partner, turn and return along the same route you just took.

The goal is for you and your partner to arrive back at the start at the same time.
Because of the nature of this workout I only ended up running 3.68K in 24mins.  I was worried about completing this workout as I was worried I was going to hold my partner back.  We ended up being the first team back and we were 21seconds apart, which was not bad.
On Friday I ran 5.86K in 46mins.
On Saturday my husband and I went to a Blue Jays Game.
Views from our seats!

I had asked Steven to get seats by third base as I love Brett Lawrie but he is injured right now. :(

CN Tower
It was a nice day for a ball game.  Unfortunately they lost.
Today I ran 12.32K in 1hour and 40mins with the running group.  It was really hot this morning.  I was hoping for rain the whole time, but no luck!
This is my schedule for next week:
Monday: Cross Train
Tuesday: 7K Run
Wednesday: 5K Run
Thursday: 8K Run
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 5K Run
Sunday: 13K Run

4.17K Run and 10.7K Run

On Saturday I ran 4.17K in 32mins.  I didn't get out to my run until 1pm so it was pretty hot for my run to the splash pad.  A nice surprise on my run was finding out that the City of London had put down a sidewalk on Victoria Street within the last week.  This will make my runs to the splash pad safer!
Today I ran 10.7K with the running group in 1hour and 23mins.  The highlight of this run was that a deer almost cut me off while running on the bike path.  It appeared out of no where from the soccer field at Greenway Park and when it saw me, it ran beside me for a few strides before jumping into some long grass.  I have quite the luck with running into wildlife on my runs this summer!

Go the Distance 8K Race

On Friday was Go the Distance 8K Race.

I ran it in 56:51!  I am really happy with this time as it was pouring rain for the whole race!
The race starts at Western University with a loop around the track then out through the campus, through the neighborhood and Gibbons Park before ending on the football field.

Cross Train, 5.88K Run and 4.1K Run

On Monday I went to a Body Pump class at Goodlife.  It was pretty hard!  I will go back again, but it is hard to get to the class due to my work schedule.
On Tuesday I decided to go to the gym at lunch to work on my arms.  I bought a dress for my friend's wedding at the end of July and want to see if I can get my arms in better shape before then.  I think that I over did it at the gym, working on my arms two days in a row, because by the time I got home from work Tuesday night my right arm was killing me and I could not move it above my chest.  Even though I was in pain, I still went out for a 5.88K run which took 46mins.  It started to feel better on the second half of my run, but when I got home it was really painful again.
On Wednesday it was still pretty painful, so I decided to skip the gym and take it easy.
On Thursday my arm was feeling a lot better and I ran 4.1K in 30mins with the running group.

South Huron 8K Trail Run

On Saturday I ran the South Huron 8K Trail run in 1:01:21.  This is 2 minutes faster then last year!  It was really hot and I forgot how hilly the course was.

On Tuesday I ran 6K in 46mins.  On Wednesday I ran 4.25K in 33mins.
I didn't run at all on Thursday as I participated in the Big Bike ride for Heart and Stroke.  I was the top fundraiser again this year!
On Saturday I ran 5.89K in 47mins.  It was really hot on Saturday!
Today I ran the South Huron 8K Trail run.  Race report to come once the official times are posted.

A Week in Review

On Monday I went to a Newbody class and stayed for the CXWorx class.  CXWorx is sooo hard.  It works your core and my abs were sore for days!
Tuesday was the first day of the new Half Marathon Running Clinic.  I ran 6.44K in 47mins with the group.
This session John has us running 5 days a week.  I am not sure how long I will be able to run 5 days, but I am going to try.  So on Wednesday I ran 4.15K in 32mins.
On Thursday I ran 6.14K in 45mins with the running group.
On Saturday I ran 4.13K in 33mins.  I ran my route to the near by splash pad but it wasn't working.  Maybe next time!
Today I ran 8.07K in 1hour and 4mins with the running group.  It rained lightly for the last half of the run.
Here is my schedule for next week:
Monday: Cross Train
Tuesday: 6K Run
Wednesday: 4K Run
Thursday: 6K Run
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 4K Run
Sunday: South Huron 8K Trail Run

Bayfield Safe Harbour 5K

Sunday I ran the Bayfield Safe Harbour 5K.  I ran it in 34:33.  I am pretty happy with this time.  It was a great day for a race.  Not too hot!  There was one girl who kept running past me then walking, then I would run past her. She would then run past me then walk again.  I was getting very annoyed with this. With 300metres to go she passed me the last time and I was able to step on the gas and finish before her.  From the results I think 5 seconds ahead of her.

Cross Training, 8K Run and 5.37K Run

I started off the week well with going to a New Body Class on Monday night.  On Tuesday I ran 8K in 1hour and 4mins.  I didn't do anything Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  I did run 5.37K in 41mins this afternoon after going into work for a couple hours this morning.  Tonight, I worked on finally framing some items from the Disney Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon.

Tomorrow is the Bayfield Safe Harbour 5K Run so I should get to sleep!

Week in Review

On Tuesday it was pouring rain after work, so I moved my run to Wednesday night instead.  On Wednesday I ran 5.29K in 41mins.
Thursday I was super lazy and skipped my run all together.  No real reason, just laziness.
Saturday I ran 8K in 1hour and 4mins.  My goal was to run 8K or until it started raining whatever came first.
This thought continued to today when I ran 9K in 1hour and 13mins.  I has 12K scheduled but after being rained on 3 times, I decided to throw in the towel.  I did get to see some baby Canada Geese on my run.

Here is my schedule for next week:
Monday: Cross Train
Tuesday: 8K Run
Wednesday: Rest Day
Thursday: 10K Run
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 5K Run
Sunday: Bayfield Safe Harbour 5K

Dairy Capital 5K Race

Yesterday was the Dairy Capital 5K Race.

I ran it in 35:05.  I am pretty happy with this time as it is a hilly course.  It was much cooler then last year, so that was nice.  At the beginning of the 5K it was pretty slow going as there were about 500 runners and a lot of them decided to walk early on.
Before the race!
