Halloween Haunting 10K Run

Today was the Halloween Haunting 10K Run.

I ran it in 1:11:24.  That is 7mins off of last year!  It was very cold today, 4 degrees Celsius.  When the race started I could not feel my legs or feet, but I quickly warmed up!

4.2K Run

Today I ran 4.2K in 31mins with the Runners' Choice Pack Run.  It was a rainy morning, but not too bad.  There were only 4 of us in the group today, and everyone ran slower to run with me which was nice.   After the run, I rushed home to shower, change and get to my coworkers wedding.  She of course looked beautiful!

6K Run

Last night I ran 6K in 49mins.  It was a very warm night for a run.  After my run I came home and made some chocolate cover "bones" for a bake sale at work.  I found the recipe on Pinterest.

You just take a pretzel with 2 marshmallows on the end and dip them in white chocolate.  They were a big hit at the bake sale.
Today I picked up my race packet for the Halloween Haunting 10K race on Sunday.

17.56K Run and Mile Markers Book Review

Today I ran 17.56K in 2hours and 26mins.  It started off pretty foggy this morning.  There were a lot of runners out and I say a lot from the Marathon group.
I am a little late (one week), posting my review of Mile Markers by Kristen Armstrong, but here it is!

Overall, I enjoyed the book.  It was different how it was a compilation of her blog posts.  I also liked how it was split into 26.2 chapters.

Which mile markers resonated with you the most? Which didn't?
The mile markers I enjoyed the most were Balance and Gratitude.  There were no specific mile markers that I didn't resonate with me as I could to as I could relate to portions of all.  What was hard for me to relate to was the mom and the kids aspect of her book as I do not have children.  Other aspect that I could not relate to as much as Kristen was the relationship she has with other runners.  Yes I run with a training group, but all the runners in the group are much faster then I.  I rarely chat while running with others.  I do feel that running in the group is still beneficial as there is a huge support system which you gain as the others are always encouraging.

Are there any other mile markers that you would have added, why?
I would agree with Crystal from Carpe Diem Crystal that I would add Patience as I feel a lot of people give up on running because they do not have the patience.  They run too fast I give up because it is too hard.  If they were to slow down and work their way up to a faster pace they would enjoy it more.

What was your favorite part about this book? Which was your least favorite?
In Balance the section titled Refill and in Gratitude the section titled I Get To.

8K Run

Today I ran 8K in 1hour and 4mins.  This is a pretty good time for me.  It was a rainy day so I wore a jacket, but then got hot on the way back and tied it around my waste.  Tomorrow I have 18K on the calendar.  This will be my longest run before the Disney Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon November 10th.  Speaking on the Wine and Dine, I received my final race info yesterday!  My bib number is 5717!

The Pinery Provincial Park 10K Road Race

Today was the Pinery Provincial Park 10K Road Race.

My time was 01:16:57.  It was slower then I would have liked but it was a lot warmer and hillier then I was expecting.
The day started out rough with me not being able to find my Nike tech shirt that I wanted to wear.  We finally found it in Steven's camera bag as I had packed it for my last race, the St Marys 10K River Road Run, as I was unsure if I was going to be too warm for a long sleeve short.  When we got to the Pinery it took forever to find a parking spot, and Steven had to drop me at the registration pickup while he parked.

6K Run and 3.1Mile Treadmill Run

Last night I ran 6K in 48mins.  At least I am remaining consistent!
This afternoon when I got around to my run it was 10 degrees and raining so I headed to the gym.  I did 3.1miles at a 4.7 average speed in 39mins on the treadmill.  The good thing about running at the gym is that I can watch Keeping up with the Kadarshians.  Tomorrow is the Pinery Provincial Park10K Road Race and it is suppose to rain.  Lucky I was able to pick up another pair of running tights from Mountain Equipment Coop today in case it is cool.

5K Run

Tonight I ran 5K in 39mins.  It was dark by the time I got to my turn around point which usually takes me under a bridge.  When I got there there was someone walking in the dark so I opted to turn around before the bridge.

5.94K Run

Tonight I ran 5.94K in 49mins.  It was overcast all day which continued for my run.  The highlight of my run was seeing a raccoon as I was exciting the bike path.
