9.94K Run

Tonight I ran 9.94K in 1hour and 26mins with the running group.  It was a slow run for me, but it was warmer out then the beginning of the week.  Work has still been super busy with my colleague on vacation.  I ended up not running last night and went to bed at 7pm.  I did make some time to make a Watermelon, Strawberry, Peach smoothie that turned out pretty go to Steven's surprise.  Here is the recipe:
2 cups of Watermelon
1 cup of strawberries (I used frozen)
1 cup of peaches (I used frozen)
1 cup of yogurt
protein powder

7.96K Run

Tonight I ran 7.96K in 1hour and 6mins.  It was cooler again tonight, so it was a nice night for a run.  I am still super busy at work, but was able to start the week on track with my running.

21.43K Port Stanley Run

This morning I ran 21.43K to Port Stanley in 2hours and 54mins with the running group.  I was not feeling very strong during my run, therefore it was much slower then I had hoped.  It was pretty warm out which did not help with my speed.  Hopefully it cools down by Sept 9th for the Springbank 1/2 Marathon.

5.93K Run

This morning I ran 5.93K in 49mins.  I went out early with the Pack Run as it was suppose to get really hot today.  By the time we finished it was already pretty warm.  Tomorrow is my 21.5K run to Port Stanley.  It is suppose to be hot tomorrow as well...

Tonight I ran 8K in 1hour and 8mins.  Work is still super busy so my running schedule is messed up again.  Hopefully I will be able to make up for my missed run last night on Friday.

20K Run

Today I ran 20K in 2hours and 52mins.  I wish it was a little faster but my knee was bothering me a bit last night, so I was taking it slow.  I don't think the pain I felt the last couple runs was from my IT Band as if it was I don't think I would have been able to finish the 20K run today.  I was able to push through the knee pain today and I felt strong.  It was cooler today which helped a lot.  Hopefully the cooler weather holds out.  Here is my schedule for next week:

10K and failed run

On Thursday I ran 10K in 1hour and 28mins.  Near the end my right knee started bothering me.  I didn't think much of it as I thought I just landed weird.  We were out of town Friday and today, but when we returned to London tonight, I decided to get a 6K run in.  Well I got about 1/2K and my knee started hurting.  I walked a bit, tried to run a bit more, but the pain started up again so I turned around and came home.  I have a 20K run tomorrow morning so I am a little worried that I may not make it through.  I did some research online and I think it may be an IT Band issue.  I iced my knee when I got home and foam rolled.  I always seem to injure myself some how when I get this far into my training.

Tonight I ran 8K in 1hour and 8mins.  I am really happy with this time as it is very close to my 8K Go the Distance race time.  Shows what some cooler weather can do!  I have been really busy at work so my running schedule is completely messed up.

17.78K Run

Yesterday I ran 17.78K in 2hours and 34mins.  I took it slow as I did not want to get sick afterwards, like two weeks ago.  Here is my schedule for next week:

Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: 8K Run
Wednesday: 6K Run
Thursday: 10K Run with Running Group
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 5K Pack Run
Sunday: 20K Run with Running Group

Last night I made some Corn Chowder for dinner.  Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of butter
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 large carrot, chopped
2 potatoes, diced
2 cups of vegetable broth
2 cans of corn
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
3 1/2 cups of skimmed milk
1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
In a large soup pot, heat the butter over medium heat
Add the garlic and cook for 2-3mins
Add the celery, carrot and potatoe
Add the vegetable broth and cook until vegetables are tender.  Will take approximately 10mins
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and milk
Pour mixture into the soup pot and stir
Add in the corn, thyme and salt and pepper
Let the soup simmer for 20-30mins

This morning I ran 5.29K.  It was overcast and a little cooler when I started out, but it got warmer and I started to wish I had wore a tank top instead of a T-shirt.

8K Run

Tonight I ran 8K in 1hour and 8mins.  It was my first run with my new Garmin!  It seems to be a little more accurate with the GPS then my old one.  I skipped my run last night as my knees were really sore so I took it easy with a bath last night.  I will make up for my missed run Friday night.

11.47K Run

This morning I ran 11.47K in 1hour and 38mins.  I am pretty happy with this time.  I also bought a new 410 Garmin Forerunner!  It got it brand new off of Kijiji for $150! 

Yesterday I was at Mountain Equipment Coop and bought a tank top and capris for $20 each!

I also bought some Nuun to try as I am trying to make sure I don't have a repeat of last Sunday of becoming sick after a long run.  I did not like Nuun at all.  It was too fizzy for my liking.  I really do not like carbonated beverages, even soda is too fizzy for my liking.

2 Approximate Runs

On Thursday I ended up having to run to running group as there is construction downtown and I would not have made it in time to drive from work.  Because of that I started my run from work.  Of course my Garmin did not pick up a signal until I was .7K into my run.  So in total my run was approximately 7.64K in 1hour and 9mins.  It's always nice when you get to running group already sweating!
This morning I went to the pack run, but it was only me and leader there.  Luckily he didn't mind running slow with me.  My husband was playing with my Garmin last night as it was not connect to my computer and he forgot to turn it off, so it was dead this morning.  I think we ran approximately 5K in 43mins.

5.75K Run

Tonight I ran 5.75K in 48mins.  I made up my route as I went.  When I do that I always feels it takes longer.  I also broke out my new shoes, I had waiting for me.  I thought I had put enough mileage on my last pair, 524.44K to be exact.
